Brandon Patterson is a historian and political scientist who specializes in providing historical context to contemporary and forward-looking problems. His academic specialty is European diplomatic history, the international relations of Asia, and Middle East studies. Professionally, he is an analyst on issues including American foreign policy, geopolitics, maritime security, and nuclear strategy. His training as a historian has led him to conduct various research projects on military and diplomatic history to analogize with contemporary circumstances to help shape strategic planning. 

 

Since completing his education in 2022, Brandon has been conducting research and analysis for U.S. government and private-sector clients. His expertise on the intellectual history of American foreign policy has helped to explain the biases and distortions in U.S. strategic thinking. In addition, Mr. Patterson has also designed and executed projects such as the creation of a geopolitical framework for the reintroduction of low-yield nuclear weapons into the American inventory, and a historical study examining the likely impact of the increasing complexity and availability of machine learning algorithms on elements of strategy, diplomacy, and society in the coming decades.
